I've been friends with Emilie for 40 years. Yup. It's a pretty special friendship. I'm so lucky to be able to have a friend like her. We crashed my parents' car into her parents' car when I was 3. We took crazy pictures in photo booths at 14. We had tea together when we were both at home with babies. And now, we occasionally play squash in the morning before heading off into our days. We laugh, loudly, all the way through.
I've been adding my walks to our squash time (walk, squash, walk). And today when I walked down and back again, I was listening to Brené Brown's Daring Greatly. Brené asks questions about living whole-heartedly, being vulnerable, and the large life that comes with that. My good friend Emilie exhibits these wonderful qualities, and I'm grateful that I'm able to make the trek down (and back again) for some whole-hearted laughter with her. Some people you'd walk 500 miles for. I'm pretty lucky I only have to walk 5k.
I'm a Yoga Teacher in Toronto who's investigating healthy movement for the body. As a part of this exploration, I've decided to do more intentional movement, including walking 5km (3.1miles or about an hour) each day. I'm going to blog as I go, with photos and videos, maybe some insights into functional movement, and some inspiration for your own walking challenge. Leave comments here and let me know how your walking is going!
